{"id":707,"date":"2014-06-14T13:57:59","date_gmt":"2014-06-14T17:57:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.briandeyo.us\/brd\/wp\/?p=707"},"modified":"2014-06-14T14:11:34","modified_gmt":"2014-06-14T18:11:34","slug":"netsquared-hangout-on-net-neutrality","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.briandeyo.us\/index.php\/2014\/06\/14\/netsquared-hangout-on-net-neutrality\/","title":{"rendered":"NetSquared hangout on Net Neutrality!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I had a great opportunity to join a Google Hangouts\u00a0to discuss possible implications of the loss of Net Neutrality and how it can affect Swaziland and other developing nations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uSiQeD4HJsw?autoplay=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I want to offer a big Thank You to <a title=\"NetSquared Northern Michigan's Net2 Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.netsquared.org\/local\/northamerica\/netsquared-northern-michigan-tech-good#.U5yEv_ldUts\" target=\"_blank\">NetSquared Northern Michigan<\/a>\u00a0for inviting me. \u00a0This was my first Google Hangout, and a great crash-course for me\u00a0as SCS moves our meetings to a hybrid of the Hangouts platform and live meetings.<\/p>\n<p>This really is a topic where I feel conflicted between my passion for the open and neutral Internet, and the possibility that people of the <a title=\"NetSquared page for Swaziland Computer Society\" href=\"http:\/\/www.netsquared.org\/local\/africa\/swaziland-computer-society#.U5yK9PldUts\" target=\"_blank\">Swaziland Computer Society<\/a> could have an opportunity to develop local alternatives to US-Based offerings. \u00a0I mentioned\u00a0<a title=\"Interactive maps of where underwater cables are\" href=\"http:\/\/www.submarinecablemap.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.submarinecablemap.com\/<\/a> during my turn on the panel. \u00a0Go check it out&#8230;
