So the most unfortunate part of my day was the stark, bleak, ridiculously embarrassing incident where for weeks we’ve been planning an upgrade of the Tripwire database from MSDE 2000 to SQL 2005 Standard. We had to get the DBA team involved, and it gradually has become a very large project. Today I finally confirmed my suspicions that Tripwire wasn’t installed in MSDE but the default of MySQL. Ooops. I think I wasted only a few hours of other people’s time. Nothing wrong… nothing blown up… just time wasted.
For all the unfortunate lameness I was experiencing, a small hiccup in reality has happened. It turns out the University gives every staff member a personal website. Calamity.
