Oh the Swaziland Computer Society

I find myself getting incredibly nostalgic. I opened up the first DVD I created for the Swaziland Computer Society and started browsing the menu.

We distributed over 300 copies of this bootable DVD within the first 6 months. This put over 3 GB of tools, documentation, and educational videos in the hands of possibly thousands of people. This was one of the best projects I did in Swaziland, and I’m still really proud of it.

I am going to generate the hash for the disc and find a place to publish it online. Long live Swaziland Computer Society!

Thank you for getting this disc! This disc was designed for you! It contains many of the resources necessary to operate a smooth running computer without needing to access the Internet. The disc can’t hold everything we want but the disc contains many of the most useful programs for computers in the country.

This disc has two major functions! The first is to distribute really useful applications and utilities to use on any computer across the country. The second is to use it as a “bootable recovery disc”. This means that if you restart your computer with the DVD inside the drive, a special program will run that helps you repair common problems with Windows computers.

The disc is sold for only E10 to cover the costs of purchasing blanks, a bit of electricity, and a small sum to go towards purchasing a new DVD burner. Please copy this for anyone that needs a copy! We want all our computers running well.

We seriously want you to join Swaziland Computer Society and help make technology one of the driving forces in developing the country. Find us online http://www.swazicomputers.org or join us on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/groups/swazi.computers

We hope you enjoy the disc, look for a new one every 2-3 months. If you have any questions regarding the disc, applications, or the bootable recovery environment, please post on the website http://www.swazicomputers.org.
