Profile on NetSquared

I’m web-famous!  Well not quite… I have been honored by having my profile featured on the NetSquared organizer spotlight!

It is really rewarding to be recognized for my efforts to help Swaziland Computer Society grow.  I filled this survey out several months ago prior to actually leaving Swaziland.  It’s a wonderful capture of the passion and drive that first helped Sikhumbuzo and I form SCS.

Regardless of what country I type this blog from, a very large part of my life is inextricably intertwined with my family and friends from Swaziland.  SCS is one of the most positive outcomes of my time in Swaziland.

Being part of the NetSquared family has helped me plumb the depths of the Internet learning how much tech really can contribute to Social Good.  A big Ngiyabonga! (thank you) to NetSquared for the opportunity to link our SCS community.

Informative 2013 United States Income Tax Calculator

Have you ever wondered what your tax money goes to?  Thanks for a tweet from @BillGates I know an approximation of how my income tax will be spent.  The numbers clearly aren’t meant to be precise, but are an interesting indicator of priorities. Most of the programs I interacted with while serving as a volunteer were directly funded or impacted by PEPFAR funding. I didn’t agree with the abstinence restrictions that the Bush-era Whitehouse put on PEPFAR funding, and am not always a proponent for increased foreign aid. I will agree with the ONE campaign that increased funding can improve the lives of people living with HIV.

Updated the Swaziland Computer Society Website

After several months of trying to encourage the usage of Drupal for the Swaziland Computer Society, I have completely redsigned to using WordPress for the site.

The redesign of the website is going to allow a greater use of the site by more members. Drupal is just too daunting for some users that are relatively shy with complicated technology. By request WordPress wins. This is really exciting because many of our members know how to use WordPress already.

Check out the new look at

I’m looking forward to more contributions from more of our members. Check out the “Syndication Out” plugin for your own website. I would love to work with you can get your technical blogging syndicated with SCS!
